- 4
Paste it into your email app
Open your email app's signature settings and paste. The FAQ below has the steps for Gmail, Outlook and Apple Mail.
Examples
Personal profile
A consultant's signature with name, title, phone and a “LinkedIn” text link to linkedin.com/in/….
Company Page
A shared team signature with a “Connect on LinkedIn” button that opens the company's LinkedIn Page.
Consistent team signatures
Everyone on a sales team uses the same layout and accent color, each with their own details and profile link.
Limitations
- The LinkedIn link is styled text, not LinkedIn's logo, so the signature has no images to host, block or break.
- Email apps handle pasted signatures differently. If the formatting changes after pasting, adjust it in your email app's signature editor.
- Some browsers don't allow copying formatted text. If Copy signature doesn't work, select the preview and copy it with Ctrl+C (⌘C on a Mac).
LinkedIn Email Signature Generator FAQ
How do I add the signature in Gmail?
In Gmail on a computer, click Settings (the gear icon) at the top right, then See all settings. In the Signature section, paste your signature into the box, then click Save Changes at the bottom of the page. Gmail signatures can be up to 10,000 characters.
How do I add the signature in Outlook?
In the new Outlook for Windows and Outlook on the web, select Settings (the gear icon), then Accounts > Signatures. Select Add signature, give it a name, paste your signature, choose whether to use it for new messages and replies, and select Save. In classic Outlook, open a new email and choose Signature > Signatures on the Message tab.
How do I add the signature in Apple Mail?
In Mail on your Mac, choose Mail > Settings, then click Signatures. Select your account, click the Add button below the middle column, name the signature, and paste it into the preview on the right.
Can I use the LinkedIn logo in my signature?
LinkedIn's brand guidelines allow members to use the [in] logo in an email signature, but only unmodified and in blue, black or white, as downloaded from brand.linkedin.com. This generator uses a text link instead, so it can match your accent color and doesn't depend on a hosted image.
