Embedding LinkedIn on a websiteBy the LinkedInEmbed team · Updated
How do I add a LinkedIn icon or follow button to my website?
Short answer
For a simple link, place LinkedIn's [in] logo or a text link pointing to your profile or company page URL; LinkedIn's brand guidelines allow the logo as a hyperlink. For a company Follow button, LinkedIn's developer docs provide a Follow Company plugin snippet that uses your company ID. Profile badges end after December 12, 2026.
Your options
| Option | What it does | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| [in] logo link | Opens your LinkedIn profile, company page or group | Headers, footers, team bios |
| Follow Company plugin | A LinkedIn Follow button for your company page | Company sites that want followers |
| Company page widget | A card with logo, followers, about and a Follow button that opens your page | About and careers pages |
| Profile badge | A “View profile” button | Retiring: LinkedIn says it won't be available after December 12, 2026 |
Adding the LinkedIn icon the right way
LinkedIn's brand guidelines allow members to use the [in] logo as a hyperlink to their LinkedIn profile, company page or group page, including in a row of social media icons. Link it to your profile URL or company page URL.
- Use one of three colors: blue, black or white. Blue on a solid white background is LinkedIn's preferred version.
- Don't change the logo's color or shape, or combine it with other symbols, words or designs.
- Don't use it in a way that implies LinkedIn endorses or is affiliated with you.
For accessibility, give an icon-only link a text label for screen readers, such as “LinkedIn profile of [your name]”, and point it at your clean public URL rather than a long link with extra parameters copied from the app.
Adding a company Follow button
LinkedIn's help center says any company, university or high school with a LinkedIn Page can add a Follow button to its website using LinkedIn's developer resources. The Follow Company plugin is a short JavaScript snippet: one script tag loads LinkedIn's platform script, and a second script tag of type IN/FollowCompany carries your numeric company ID in its data-id attribute.
Page admins can find the company ID in the address of the Page's admin view: it's the number after /company/. Using LinkedIn plugins means accepting LinkedIn's Plugin Terms of Use. LinkedIn's plugin page was last updated some years ago, so test the button on your live site.
Prefer no third-party script? The LinkedIn company page widget includes a Follow button that opens your page on LinkedIn in a new tab, where visitors follow with one click.
