Why is my LinkedIn widget showing old posts?
Short answer
Most often the widget hasn't reached its next refresh yet. LinkedInEmbed fetches new LinkedIn data when the widget is viewed after your plan's interval: 96 hours on Free, 24 hours on Pro, 30 minutes on Essentials. Other causes are a cached copy of your web page, a new post that isn't public, reposts turned off, or Selected posts mode.
Check these in order
- 1
Has the refresh interval passed?
Count from when you published the post on LinkedIn. On Free it can take up to 96 hours, on Pro 24 hours and on Essentials 30 minutes, and the refresh runs on the next view after that.
- 2
Is the new post public?
Open it in a private window. Posts shared with Connections only or a group never appear in widgets. See how to make posts public.
- 3
Is it a repost?
If “Include reposts” is off, reposts are left out. See hiding reposts.
- 4
Is the widget in Selected posts mode?
Hand-picked widgets show only the posts you chose, not your newest posts. Switch to Live feed to show the latest.
- 5
Is your page cached?
Caching plugins and CDNs can serve an old copy of the page. Purge the cache, then load the page in a private window.
Design changes don't wait for a refresh. If you changed the post count or layout and don't see it, the cause is caching, not the refresh schedule.
Refresh intervals by plan
Refreshes are triggered by views, so a widget on a quiet page may wait for its next visitor before it updates. That visitor's view starts the refresh in the background.
For example, on Free, if the widget refreshed just before you posted on Monday morning, the new post may not appear until a visit on Friday morning, 96 hours later. On Essentials, the wait is at most 30 minutes plus the time until the next visit.
| Plan | Price | Widgets | LinkedIn sources | Refreshes from LinkedIn |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | 1 | 1 | Every 96 hours |
| Pro | $12.99/month or $132.50/year | 3 | 2 | Every 24 hours |
| Essentials | $29.99/month or $305.90/year | 5 | 5 | Every 30 minutes |
Still seeing old posts?
- Check the published page, not your website builder's editor, which may show a saved preview.
- Make sure you're looking at the right widget: if you have several, compare the data-widget-id in your page's code with the one in the dashboard.
- If the widget isn't showing at all, use the LinkedIn feed not showing guide.
- Still stuck? Contact support with the page URL and the post you expected to see.
