Embedding LinkedIn on a websiteBy the LinkedInEmbed team · Updated
Can you embed a LinkedIn article on your website?
Short answer
Yes, in most cases. LinkedIn's help center lists articles among the content members can embed, using “Embed this post” from the More menu on desktop, as long as the content is shared publicly. If the option isn't offered, link to the article instead. Because you own your original content, you can also republish the full text on your own site.
How to embed a LinkedIn article
- 1
Open it on desktop
Open the article, or the post you shared it in, in a desktop browser. LinkedIn only offers embedding on desktop.
- 2
Use “Embed this post”
Click the More (…) icon and choose “Embed this post”. Pick “Embed with less text” or “Embed full post” and click Copy code.
- 3
Paste the code
Add an HTML or embed block on your page and paste the code. Adjust the iframe's height if it's cut off.
LinkedIn's help says members can embed “first-party or third-party articles”, meaning articles published on LinkedIn and posts that share an article from elsewhere. If you don't see the option, use a link with a short summary.
When an article is visible off LinkedIn
Articles are long-form pieces you publish with Write article from the share box; newsletter editions are articles too. LinkedIn shows them in the Activity section of your profile.
Whether people outside LinkedIn can read them depends on your public profile settings. LinkedIn's help says articles are shown on and off LinkedIn only when your profile's public visibility is on and the Articles & Activity section is set to show. If those are off, they're shown only to LinkedIn members. You can change these settings on desktop, not in the mobile app.
So if an embedded article doesn't load for signed-out visitors, check these settings first. Don't confuse this with LinkedIn's option to embed content inside an article, such as posts, profiles or Pages: that brings content into LinkedIn rather than taking an article out to your site.
Embed, link or republish?
LinkedIn's User Agreement says you own the original content you post, so republishing your own article is up to you. Don't republish someone else's article without permission. To show your newest LinkedIn activity automatically, a feed widget displays your recent public posts.
| Approach | Best for | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| Embed | Showing the LinkedIn version, with its engagement | LinkedIn's design; the text doesn't count as your page's content for search |
| Link with a summary | Blog roundups and press pages | Visitors leave your site to read it |
| Republish the full text | Building your own site's content and search presence | Decide which copy is the main one and link between them |
