Why does my LinkedIn post embed show a blank box?
Short answer
A blank LinkedIn embed usually means the post is no longer available, for example deleted or not public, or that something blocked LinkedIn's iframe: a privacy extension, strict browser tracking protection, a cookie-consent tool, a Content Security Policy, or a site builder that changed the code. Check the post on LinkedIn first, then test your page in a private window.
Find the cause in four checks
Start with the post itself, because it's the quickest cause to rule out. If the post opens fine while signed out, the problem is between your page and linkedin.com, and a test in a second browser without extensions usually tells you whether it affects every visitor or only some of them.
- 1
Open the post while signed out
Use a private window. If the post doesn't load, it was deleted or isn't public. LinkedIn says embeds are deleted when the author deletes the post.
- 2
Test your page in another browser
If the embed shows in one browser but not another, a browser setting or extension is blocking content from linkedin.com.
- 3
Check the browser console
A Content Security Policy or frame error points to your site's settings. A message about refused framing or frame-src means linkedin.com isn't allowed.
- 4
Compare the code
View the page source and confirm the iframe is still there and its src starts with https://www.linkedin.com/embed/feed/update/.
Causes and fixes
| Cause | Fix |
|---|---|
| Post deleted or no longer available | Remove the embed code, or replace it with another post. |
| Ad blocker, privacy extension or strict tracking protection | Nothing to fix on your site for those visitors; add a text link to the post next to the embed as a fallback. |
| Cookie-consent tool blocking third-party embeds until consent | Check your consent tool's settings for embedded content from LinkedIn. |
| Content Security Policy | Allow https://www.linkedin.com in frame-src. |
| Builder removed or altered the iframe | Paste the code into an HTML or embed block, not a text block. |
| Iframe too short | LinkedIn embeds don't resize to fit; increase the height value. |
Avoiding blank boxes in future
A native embed is a window onto one LinkedIn post, so it breaks when that post changes. If you feature posts often, a widget that rebuilds itself from your latest public posts avoids dead embeds: a deleted post simply drops out after the next refresh. See what happens when you delete or edit a post and the LinkedIn feed widget.
If a LinkedInEmbed widget is the thing that's blank, use the LinkedIn feed not showing guide instead.
